Fundación Scalesia is a Galapagos-based education nonprofit with over 25 years of experience. In addition to operating a model preK-12 school, Fundación Scalesia was one of the original architects of the Education for Sustainability Program in Galapagos and continues to provide teacher professional development and technical assistance to the Education for Sustainability Program in Chile. This organization protects Galápagos ecosystems through conservation, education, and community engagement.
Oikonos EcoSystem Knowledge is a non-profit focused on ecosystem conservation through research, restoration, and community engagement in Chile’s Juan Fernández Islands and Isla Mocha. In 2023, Oikonos conducted a needs assessment for an Education for Sustainability teacher professional development program, with EcoEducate assisting in its 2024 design and implementation.
Fundación 2020 is a Chilean non-profit focused on high-quality, equitable, and inclusive education that prepares young people to build a just, humane, and collaborative society. In 2024, OIKONOS Ecosystem Knowledge partnered with Fundación 2020 to design and implement teacher professional development in the Juan Fernandez Islands and Isla Mocha.
EcoEducate draws on the talents and the assistance of dozens of highly skilled, like-minded, Spanish-speaking education specialists based in the US and Latin America. These educators, who include PreK-12 practitioners, university faculty members, environmental educators and education consultants, participated in the early phases of the Education for Sustainability Program in Galapagos and are committed to sharing their experience in Galapagos or other locations, as needed.
